What about Tigers Way, Fox Lane, Horsefair Street, Turkey Road, Talbot Lane, Gallowtree Gate, and even Belgrave with its animal-linked history… shall we change all of those too so we don’t upset anyone or anything? 🙃 Leicester like most of Britain has always had animal names woven into its roads, landmarks, pubs, and local history. “Pork Pie Island” has been a well-known local nickname for years and most people see it as part of the city’s character, not something offensive. 🦊 At this rate we’ll all need sat nav updates every week 😅🫠
