Well you can have some more fun now. Also "people want to play games they're familiar with." It wouldn't be hard to break that barrier and get introduced to a new world of difficulty, but I guess these people really don't want to go through the effort of doing that, especially since it'll mean proving the big mean "snobs" & "gatekeepers" correct.
Pro tip: unless it's fun to you, don't argue with people going "well it's in every game now so it's mandatory! *pouts and folds arms like a petulant child*". I've heard this particular argument and they inevitably devolve into tantrums and insults and refusing to accpet that new isn't always better and the way they like dodges and parries (read:overpowered and unbalanced) is not good on a fundamental game design level.
